It’s the Holiday season (2014) and it’s my favorite time of year.
We get to embrace the aspects of life that matter most; family, friends and a spirit of gratefulness.
In honor of this, i’d like to share 5 things i’m grateful for in this season of my life. (Please share with me what you’re grateful for in the comments below!)
1. My fathers legacy
My father passed away just over a month ago, and while the wounds are still fresh, i’m incredibly grateful for the life that he lived and the legacy that he leaves behind.
It has caused my family to re-evaluate our own lives.
We are going to be making some big changes, coming soon, as a result of the legacy he leaves.

His life, despite being orphaned as a child, was one of service, love and a positive impact.
2. My Mothers strength and love
My father died way too young (Glioblastoma brain tumors). He was 52 years old, and he widow’s my mother who is only 48.
This has been the hardest time of her entire life, but her strength in this season has been an inspiration.
This was from out trip to Bend, Oregon.
There have been very hard days, but in my eyes she is leaning on her faith to be strong for the rest of us. Without her presence and love the entire experience of losing my father would have been immeasurably harder.
3. An expanding family
This includes my wife’s family, who has embraced me as a one of their own, and the newest addition to my immediate family, my little nephew Caleb.
This is what life is all about, and I realize that not everyone gets to live a life with a family that is full of love and growth.
I’m one of the lucky ones in this world, and it’s not lost on me for a second.

4. A country that is free and prosperous
We live in a time, and I live in a place (United States) that is unparalleled in individual freedoms and resources.
I spend my days working hard and enjoying a life free from the tyranny of autocratic governments and the despair of poverty.
Again, this is a rare position in the world (and in history) and i’d be a fool to just assume that i’m entitled to these things. Many people will live their entire lives with no freedom and very little resources to care for their loved ones.
5. A community of collaborators
This past year has been very exciting in my life.
It’s been exciting due to the fact that i’m teaming up with others in a way I never had before.
Doing life with these talented and inspiring people is something i’m truly grateful for.
And i’m excited to make new partnerships and continue to trust and follow others to provide more value and hopefully honor my father’s legacy with the time that I have.
What are you grateful for?
I love hearing about what others are grateful for.
It’s inspiring and helps me to remember to have the right spirit and perspective.
